Curiosity, collaboration and patience guides the work we do with our partners because redressing inequities and redesigning inclusive communities, institutions and relationships is a process. Providing multiple and tailored entry points into realizing equity, inclusion and social justice allows us to be dynamic, experiential and relational in our approach. This is especially important as we know it is through collective imagining and commitment that we make progress.
For that reason, we understand that making equity, inclusion, and social justice the norm in our communities and institutions is a consciously relational process. Relational is about awakening to the interconnection between our inner selves, outer worlds and our ethical interdependence with one another.
To be relational means having the awareness that our lives, identities and experiences are shaped in relationship to each other, our communities, workplaces, and societies. In this awareness we open our hearts, minds, and collective energies to those dynamics, thinking and actions, which limit and contain all of our full humanity both similarly and differently.
A CALL TO STEP IN:
Relational is a call for us to step in and show up for each other in a process to create equity, inclusion and social justice, When we are Relational it means we look at and deeply inquire about ourselves, each other, the systems we work in and the cultures we create, with honesty, a readiness to listen, understand and step into the hard work of why we have unconsciously or consciously normalized discrimination, inequity and injustice.
To create consciously relational communities, institutions and relationships, we all jump in together, knowing that our lives have been both similarity and differently shaped by forces of power. To be Relational we stand with each other courageously and hopefully, imagining a-new, open to change and ready to invest in other ways of being.
This kind of collective work is not always easy, but is our shared responsibility in which we are driven by a critical awareness of our individual and collective accountability. Then as we encounter one another, and we really see our social contexts as layered and complex, we unearth the wisdom, clarity and resources we all have to create healthy, expansive and just social human eco-systems.
To live Relationally we actively choose and create fair, inclusive, generous, supportive and equitable interconnections. We choose and create structures, relationships and cultures that model these ways of living everyday through on-going processes in which we are all invested. If every single person flourishes and feels that their humanity is integral and respected we forever shape symbiotic relationships and healthy, interconnected systems and worlds.
